THE ARROW AND THE SONG
---
I shot an arrow into the air,
It fell to earth, I knew not where;
For, so swiftly it flew, the sight
Could not follow it in its flight.
I breathed a song into the air,
It fell to earth, I knew not where;
For who has sight so keen and strong,
That it can follow the flight of song?
Long, long afterward, in an oak
I found the arrow, still unbroke;
And the song, from beginning to end,
I found again in the heart of a friend.
---
Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
I heard a story of a man
Who split himself in two
One half never changed
The other half grew and grew
One half was always true
The other was always new
And then i wondered
Which half was me, which half was you?
Contradiction of Souls
---
I was the black haze
That obscured your every thought
While you scourged my inner self
With the radiance you brought
Two pieces of a puzzle of pain
A dance
Entangled heat
Ourselves we beat
In ignorant trance
Contradiction of souls spoken again
You are the phoenix
Trapping me and soaring through the sky
You're ripping me apart and burning my flesh
But if I free myself...
I'll surely die
Over 2 mensen die elkaar nodig hebben en tegelijkertijd elkaar verscheuren.
Flower
---
She drowns herself in an acid pool
To wash off the other pain
Grown to be her own hurt's tool
She holds out her hands to the freezing rain
Her broken soul desperately cries for help
In a language unheard before
While I try to understand, to rescue her from this dark land
She continues to destroy herself even more
I stumble through bright white landscapes
Where knowledge lies behind blinded vision, buried beneath the ice
Armed only with my mind's searching eye
Deeply hoping that it will suffise
I long...
To save this flower
From her slow descent
To restore her power
So that it can't evermore be bent
To make her wounds cower
And fade like a forgotten memory, carried away by time's tide
To destroy the mist that clouds her
So she'll discover her soul's brighter side
This flower is not yet lost
I refuse to let her slip into the abyss
I long to save this flower
At any cost
For as long as my hope remains
She is not lost
Over iemand die in een vicieuze cirkel van pijn terecht is gekomen.
(i have no idea what the german means in the two above)

---
You have followed your tears along the river,
As they flowed down the darkened way,
You left the sun that lit each moment,
As the luminescent light began to softly fade,
Weak and feeble, you kept walking,
Though the darkness gave you a fright,
With each step, your heart fell harder,
Too scared to find the will to fight,
The glow behind you caused your tears to fall,
And wet your melancholy cheeks,
You tried to scream to let them find you,
But your numb lips could not open to speak,
You heard their words cry out to you,
And echo through the tunnels walls,
Your tears weighed you down to nothing,
As your frail legs caused you to fall,
You crawled along, facing the ground,
Too scared to see what lies ahead,
Your old smiles and happiness flashing before you,
Everything your loved ones said,
My last view of you quickly fades,
Into the midnight sky,
I fall onto the frozen ground,
As the Lord hears my saddened cries,
"Go to your friend, my distraught child,
For your strength is what they need,
Don?t hold back because you are scared,
Don?t allow yourself to grieve,"
I wipe the tears out of my eyes,
And stand up tall on my shaky feet,
"Your strength in your heart is all you have left,
So go to them as they lie weak,"
A few steps in to the hollowed tunnel,
I scream and pray you hear,
Your cries echo back to me in pain,
As I hear the drops of your million tears,
The blackness sends my eyes back to the light,
Not knowing what I should do,
"Heart, please give me the courage to go on,"
I pray as I think of you,
The faster I run, the less frightened I'll be,
And the sooner I can hold you in my arms,
I dash to you, as your cries get louder,
Ive got to get you out of harm,
I hold your weakened body tightly,
As you look into my eyes,
"Im sorry," you say, as you wipe my own tears,
"Please don't say that this is goodbye,"
"My friend, you've got to find your own strength,
But for now, you may take mine,
Just forget your weakness, and find my courage,
And you'll make it through in time,"
"I'm too weak," you reply, closing your eyes,
"I can no longer go on,"
"Dear friend, if it were your time now,
Than God wouldn't have sent me here to bring the sun,"
As the light shines down the darkened tunnel,
From the candlelight of your solemn friends,
"I called, and they came!" you cried,
"That's because it's not the end"
You must keep on walking down this tunnel,
Until the light brings to you the day,
And there, God will take you in His arms,
And blow away your haze,
Your lifes path is long ahead of you,
And our love will help your pain to diminish,
For you must live for those you've loved and lost,
Cuz your journey has been left unfinished.
(it doesn't really rhyme or anything, but it's exactly like a story I would imagine..)

(the song itself is even better)

If I should die this very moment
I wouldn`t fear
for I`ve never known completeness
like being here
wrapped in the warmth of you
loving every breath of you
still my heart this moment
oh it might burst
could we stay right here
till the end of time until the earth stops turning
wanna love you until the seas run dry
I`ve found the one I`ve waited for
all this time I`ve loved you
and never known your face
all this time I`ve missed you
and searched this human race
here is true peace
here my heart knows calm
safe in your soul
bathed in your sighs
wanna stay right here
till the end of time
till the earth stops turning
gonna love you until the seas run dry
I`ve found the one I`ve waited for
the one I`ve waited for
all I`ve known
all I`ve done
all I`ve felt was leading to this
all I`ve known
all I`ve done
all I`ve felt was leading to this
wanna stay right here
till the end of time till the earth stops turning
gonna love you till the seas run dry
I`ve found the one I`ve waited for
the one I`ve waited for
the one I`ve waited for
wanna stay right here
till the end of time `till the earth stops turning
gonna love you till the seas run dry
I`ve found the one I`ve waited for
the one I`ve waited for
the one I`ve waited for
"You live accompanied by weal
In your all-narrow fold,
Whilst in my boundless world I feel
Both deathless and death cold"
Mihail Eminescu. this is the last part of an epic poem called hyperion.
i don't know what the rest of the poem says, but this part is awesome.
There was a young fellow from Kent
Whose dick was so long that it bent.
To save her some trouble,
He folded it double,
And instead of coming, he went.
(I just like this one because there are thousands of such lemericks and this one is the best I've seen.. so elegantly rhymed, etc.)
this isn't a poem
but it's as good as one.
i've had two philisophically significant dreams that i've never
forgotten
i stood at the foot of a mountain pass. a knight fought a dragion,
the knight was good and the dragon was evil. they fought for eons
up the pass. the knight was so determined to slay evil he forswore
all else, not even noticing the destruction he caused about him.
by the top of the mountain he had become evil, seeking only to
slay his foe and uncaring of anything else. the dragon sought to
defeat his foe at forst because his foe was g
in the end he only sought to preserve his own life as the knight
had destroyed all other living things in his zeal to defeat what
he saw as the greatest evil, thus, being the last vestige of life
and the purity of simply preserving life, even his own, yet not
harming, even though unable, other lfie, he was good.
then they both were back at the foot of the pass and it started
over, the knight now the dragon and the dragon now the knight
lyrics - Windmills of Your Mind
MOST BRILLIANT lyrics ever, and Dusty Springfield's voice is PERFECT for it
Round
Like a circle in a spiral
Like a wheel within a wheel
Never ending or beginning
On an ever-spinning reel
Like a snowball down a mountain
Or a carnival balloon
Like a carousel that’s turning
Running rings around the moon
Like a clock whose hands are sweeping
Past the minutes of its face
And the world is like an apple
Whirling silently in space
Like the circles that you find
In the windmills of your mind
Like a tunnel that you follow
To a tunnel of its own
Down a hollow to a cavern
Where the sun has never shone
Like a door that keeps revolving
In a half-forgotten dream
Or the ripples from a pebble
Someone tosses in a stream
Like a clock whose hands are sweeping
Past the minutes of its face
And the world is like an apple
Whirling silently in space
Like the circles that you find
In the windmills of your mind
Keys that jingle in your pocket
Words that jangle in your head
Why did summer go so quickly?
Was it something that you said?
Lovers walk along a shore
And leave their footprints in the sand
Is the sound of distant drumming
Just the fingers of your hand?
Pictures hanging in a hallway
And the fragment of a song
Half-remembered names and faces
But to whom do they belong?
When you knew that it was over
You were suddenly aware
That the autumn leaves were turning
To the colour of her hair
Like a circle in a spiral
Like a wheel within a wheel
Never ending or beginning
On an ever-spinning reel
As the images unwind
Like the circles that you find
In the windmills of your mind
and this one by a friend of mine.. actually a long lost friend, he hasn't talked to me in years.
for some reason I feel guilty putting it in with all these other poems.. not because it's not good enough, but because it's too good.

If I were bodiless...
I would stretch to the size of the universe, and watch it expand.
I would inflate to the size of an atom and reorganize the universe by hand.
If I were bodiless...
I would bounce light and redirect sounds.
I would entrance its color and turn it around.
If I were bodiless...
I would enlighten my orb into a resplendant spectrum ray.
And mimic the stars a billion light years away.
I would float above skylines, soar through city streets and watch people go by.
Dance to the constellations glistening through my eye.
If I were bodiless...
I would engender worlds by thought alone
Where long lost souls lay to rest at their new found home.
If I were bodiless...
I could soar anywhere I wish and never be found.
Not a trace, footprint or sound.
The physics of eternity crystalized within my minds eye.
Soaring through planes, tasting light and seeing soundwaves echoing high.
Blazing it by faster than the speed of light.
A thousand journeys in a single astral flight.
If I were bodiless...
I would stretch the limits of physics and fiddle with time.
If I were bodiless...
Every one of my thoughts would have its own conscious mind.
If I were bodiless...
I would be everywhere you would find.
If I were bodiless...
...The universe would be mine.

Tulips are yellow
And roses are yellow sometimes.
