No. So many reasons I could write a book. If the bible were the word of God, why would it contradict itself in so many places? Why would it be so difficult to understand? I tried reading the bible when I was a kid and didn't understand one sentence of it. Why would we go to hell for not believing in something that's only known of or popular in some cultures? And isn't it convenient how all those people who wrote all the books of the Bible and, later on, decided which writings would go into the Bible, were all necessarily under some divine spell so that they couldn't do a thing wrong, not a word out of place, etc.? And it's incompatible with certain understandings of science (such as evolution), which are based on tons and tons of evidence and conclusions coming from many disparate fields that all agree with each other. And it's clearly just a document of barbaric human morality from ancient times, and a fickle God with human attributes projected onto him. Some of the Bible is even downright psychotic ravings. And why would God care more about whether we believe a specific thing than whether we're good people, when it comes to who goes to heaven vs. hell? Yet that's the perfect prespcription for an effective meme complex.. "believe this meme and you'll go to heaven, don't believe it and you'll go to hell. Also, it's your obligation to spread this meme so that other people don't go to hell." I realize hell is supposedly because of the devil and stuff, but if God is omnipowerful then that wouldn't be an issue. And other reasons, including just basic sensibility that tells me the whole thing is utterly ridiculous.
